VICTORIA is Bulgarias representative at Eurovision Song Contest 2020

Victoria Georgieva - VICTORIA will be the Bulgarian representative at Eurovision song contest 2020, BNT and the project partners Ligna Group announced at a special press conference on November 25. The young singer will be the 13th Bulgarian participant in the contest.

VICTORIA has a distinctive voice and own music style. Her latest hit “I Wanna Know” was presented at the end of June and has become a stepping stone to her first international distribution deal, signed in September with the British company Ostereo.

"I am very excited to have the chance to represent Bulgaria," VICTORIA said. "There is no greater honour for an artist! For me, this participation is, above all, a huge responsibility and privilege, because music is a way to express myself and what I believe in. I can't wait to share all my new projects. Thank you BNT for believing in me! "

The project is implemented as a public-private partnership between BNT and Ligna Group. The company is the creator of the creative hub MISSIA23, which aims to bring together professionals, companies and projects from different fields of the creative industry - design, photography, cinematography, sound recording and more. The big goals ahead of the partnership between Bulgarian National Television and the company, led by Genoveva Hristova and Anelia Kasabova, are to build a positive image of Bulgaria, to position the country on the big European stage, and to provide opportunities for international performances of professionals from the Bulgarian music industry.

The Eurovision Song Contest is expected to be released at the beginning of March 2020.

The first single album, of VICTORIA is scheduled to be released shortly after the end of the contest. This year's edition of the music competition will be held on May 12, 14 and 16 and will be broadcast live on BNT1. A draw on January 28 will determine in which of the two semifinals Bulgaria will participate.

BNT Director General Emil Koshlukov said during the event: “I am glad that that Bulgaria will participate in Eurovision again and I would like to thank our partners from Ligna Group. This public-private partnership opens new opportunities for the development of the Bulgarian creative community, and for BNT this is a chance to deepen its relations with an important and influential international organization such as the European Broadcasting Union. I am sure that VICTORIA will be a worthy representative in Rotterdam. With this decision BNT responds to the calls of its youth audience, which is the main driving force of this contest. I think our renewed participation in Eurovision is also good news in the context of the 60th anniversary of BNT," Koshlukov added.

The Managing Director of Ligna Group and founder of the creative hub MISSIA23 Genoveva Hristova also said that she is proud of Bulgaria’s renewed participation in Eurovision: "This is a great opportunity, I am sure that we have all the necessary prerequisites to represent Bulgaria with dignity and at a high level. I believe this competition should be used to the fullest extent in the development of our music industry. Our effort is to unite creative people in Bulgaria and together to seek realisation of Bulgarian projects on the international market."

Anelia Kasabova, CEO of Ligna Group and co-founder of MISSIA23 noted that this partnership is of strategic importance: "Eurovision participation is placed in a much wider social and economic context and is an ideal way to build a positive international image of Bulgaria, as a good quality and recognizable brand. All Bulgarian business will benefit from this. "

The selection and distribution of the Bulgarian song for Eurovision 2020 will also include an international partner with an experienced team in the area of music production and distribution. This is the British company Ostereo, which has international experience in processing large data sets for the purpose of analysis, market research and successful positioning of copyrighted music products. The Bulgarian participation in Eurovision 2020 will benefit from the selection experience in successful Bulgarian projects in 2016 - fourth place for Poli Genova, 2017 - second place for Christian Kostov in 2018. The established production practices in countries such as Great Britain, Spain, Belgium, Netherlands, Austria and other countries wilbe applied. A lot of work will be done on creating songs. There will be several working sessions with VICTORIA in Bulgaria and abroad with successful music producers and composers.

Bulgarian music radio BG Radio, the Bulgarian edition of Forbes, the NGO Tuk-Tam, the creative academy Arc Academy and the production company Entiendo are also partners.
