Turkey will hand over Dimitar Zhelyazkov, known as Mityo the Eyes, on Friday, BNT sources said on 13th of February. He will be extradited from Istanbul on February 15, when the Turkish authorities will hand him over to the Bulgarian authorities at Ataturk Airport Police Station. Then, Dimitar Zhelyazkov will arrive in Bulgaria on a regular flight.
Chief Prosecutor Sotir Tsatsarov was formally informed that the Turkish judicial authorities had accepted his request for the extradition of Dimitar Zhelyazkov from Turkey to Bulgaria.
Dimitar Zhelyazkov was detained in Istanbul on 4th of August 2018 in response to an international arrest warrant for the purpose of his prosecution in Bulgaria in criminal proceedings by the Specialized Prosecutor's Office. During his detention, the Chief Prosecutor filed a request for extradition of Zhelyazkov in accordance with the European Convention on Extradition, which was respected by the Turkish authorities.
