Traffic police starts imposing fines on riders of electric scooters

Traffic police starts sanctioning riders of electric scooters because by law they have no right to travel on roads, Commissioner Lyubomir Kostadinov, the Head of the Traffic Police in Sofia said on September 4. Speaking to the Bulgarian National Radio, he added there already had been quite a few accidents involving electric scooters and called the users to be careful.

Kostadinov did not answer whether it was illegal for scooters to be ridden on pavements.

Пътна полиция започва да санкционира собствениците на електрически тротинетки, тъй като Because of an accident involving a motorcycle a day ago, in which a man and a woman died, Traffic Police have also stepped up their attention on motorcycle riders’ behaviour on the roads. In the last 24 hours alone, the police identified violation of road traffic rules in 30 out of 50 motorcycle riders who had been checked.
