The countries from the Organisation for the Black Sea Economic Cooperation will develop a common tourist brand. This became clear after a meeting of ministers from member states of the organisation. The event in Bulgaria’s Black Sea coastal city of Varna was held on 14th of June within the framework of the Bulgarian Presidency of the Council of the European Union.
In addition to a common brand, the 12 member states will develop joint cultural and wine routes and will develop cruise tourism in general terms.
Today, at the table were the Russian Federation, Ukraine, Turkey and supported this cruise tourism in the Black Sea to visit ports and places where there are no conflicting points, Nikolina Angelkova, Bulgaria’s Minister of Tourism said.This is a great progress because after the conflict between Ukraine and Russia, it was very difficult to sit at one table, she added.
She also said that the greatest progress has been made in developing a route called "Black Sea Cuisine and Wine in the Black Sea Region". Today, it was decided to include cultural sites that are on the UNESCO list. The Secretary General of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation, Asaf Hajiyev, stressed that steps should be taken to improve the visa regime in Bulgaria.
Sometimes, in order to visit Bulgaria, it is necessary to have a Schengen visa and other special visas - this creates problems in tourism. For example, an idea can be considered of issuing visas at arrival at the airport.
Annually, more than 119 million foreign tourists visit the Black Sea Economic Cooperation region. The focus of the work of the member states is attracting guests outside the Black Sea region, as well as attracting more investment to the industry.
