A special police operation to check heavy goods vehicles and buses will be taking place from 14th to 20th of October. Such controls will be carried out in all European countries, which are members of the European traffic police network TISPOL.
Truck and bus control operations are included in the TISPOL calendar due to the fact that in the event of serious road accidents involving such vehicles, the consequences are much bigger. The main causes for such accidents include failure to observe rest periods; speeding; use of alcohol, drugs and /or other substances; transportation of unsecured cargo; machine overload.
The inspections in Bulgaria will also involve employees of the Criminal and Economic Police, as well as the Executive Agency "Automobile Administration".
