Third day of protests in Sofia

July, 11, third day of protests in Sofia in support of the presidential institution.. The procession of protesters walked around the central part of Sofia. The square in front of the Council of Ministers and the presidential administration was filled with people.

The protest in support of democracy and the presidential institution in front of the windows of the Council of Ministers went on for more than 6 hours. People kept shouting "Resignation."

The protesters walked in a huge procession through Tsar Osvoboditel Blvd., passed by the Parliemnt , Eagles’ Bridge, the Palace of Courts, where they demanded the resignation of the Chief Prosecutor and then walked back to the Council of Ministers.

The protest started thining out around 23:00 pm.

There was no intervention by the police.

Shortly before 21:00 p.m., an exploding firework was thrown and a police officer was slightly injured in the leg, but no arrests were made.

"The best thing is for the government to resign, for the chief prosecutor to resign and for us to hope that the government will be taken over by capable and competent people, who we do not have at the moment," said a protester, Elvina Parkulova.

"What are we going to achieve, even if we overthrow Borisssov, even we overthrow Radev? Nothing. The system is important. It is better for them to shake hands and think about how to fix Bulgaria. This is important," another protester said.

"I am coming here, not to support President Radev, not to be in opposition to GERB, but because I am a nationalist," Georgi said.

"We want a normal state. To live normally. Enough with these thefts. This is simply unacceptable for Bulgaria," said Stanislav Iliev.

During the protests on Friday, July 10, three police officers were injured, one seriously after being hit by a bottle thrown by a protester.

18 people were taken into custody. Pre-trial proceedings had been initiated against three. The remaining 15 would be fined under the ordinance against hooliganism.
