The Moroccan Accused of Terrorism will Remain in Custody

The Court of Appeals in Bulgaria’s second largest city of Plovdiv upheld the 90-day custody for Nuafal Zahri - the Moroccan who was accused of terrorism and was wanted by the Interpol.

He was arrested in January at the Bulgarian border with Turkey, together with Syrian migrants. On 20th of February, the court hearing was postponed because of the absence of an interpreter, and later it turned out that a new defence counsel should be appointed.

The two persons who did not appear at the hearing were fined by the court. It is expected that in the coming days the Kingdom of Morocco will submit documents with the request for the extradition of Zahri. In Morocco, he is investigated for alleged ties to the Islamic State.
