Taxi drivers in Sofia protested because of app-based ride services

Taxi drivers in Sofia protested on 21st of March against the app-based ride service company Maxim.

The protest procession passed from the 7th kilometre on Tsarigradsko shose Boulevard to Alexander Nevski monument in Sofia on 21st of March.

Drivers urge Maxim Taxi to stop operating in the country, as they think it's working outside the rules.

According to the protesters, the company damages the state, as most of its drivers do not pay taxes and do not have cash registers.

The Commission for Protection of Competition imitated actions on the case and the results of the inspection are expected to be announced soon. After a meeting with trade unions in Parliament, the transport committee said the company would be checked.
