“Stay Clean, Say NO to Corruption” initiative started

The fifth in a row initiative under the international project "Stay Clean, Say NO to Corruption" began on September 30. At Gyueshevo border checkpoint, Interior Ministry officers, together with their counterparts from North Macedonia, conduct a survey of the passengers crossing the border.

Police officers from the two countries and volunteers are handing out materials and leaflets to inform the passengers about their rights and how they can report corruption practices. Director of Internal Security, Senior Commissioner Rumen Ganev was also at the border.

Rumen Ganev: The reduction of corruption and counteraction cannot be achieved without such an active position. We need to go down to different groups of people and explain our position. The police, without the help of the public, will not be able to resolve the issue.

People interviewed by the BNT team said they supported the initiative and hoped it would produce results.

The project "Stay Clean, Say NO to Corruption" will take place at other border crossings in Bulgaria. It started on the Danube Bridge in June. There are billboards in many places around the country with the campaign’s message.
