Sofia mayor strengthens control over compliance with anti-epidemic measures

Today, July 9, the mayor of Sofia Municipality convened a meeting of the Sofia Operational Headquarters against Coronavirus. The director of the Sofia Health Inspectorate, Dr. Penchev, said that in the last week there was a steady increase in the number of infected and hospitalized. As of July 9, 155 people have been hospitalized in Sofia, 27 of whom are in intensive care units.

During the meeting, the specific activities undertaken to implement the new order of the Minister of Health were discussed.

From tomorrow, July 10, visits to all discos, piano bars, nightclubs and other indoor entertainment establishments are banned. Visits are allowed only to the open-air nightclubs with occupancy of up to 50% of the total capacity of the seats and subject to a distance of 1.5 m.

Outdoor and indoor group celebrations with more than 30 people are not allowed.

Cultural and entertainment events, including theatres, cinemas, concerts, stage events, can be held at an occupancy of up to 50% of the total capacity of the seats and at a distance of 1.5 m.

Congress and conference events, seminars and exhibitions can also be held with up to half of the seats occupied.

All team and individual outdoor and indoor sports events with training and competitive nature will be held without an audience.

Visits by third parties to medical establishments for hospital care and to specialized institutions for social care and residential services for children and adults are prohibited. Attended classes in the centres for support of personal development and in the specialized service units of the system of preschool / school education and higher schools are suspended.

The mayor of Sofia Yordanka Fandakova assigned enhanced control over the compliance of the introduced anti-epidemic measures in public places. Checks for wearing protective masks in public transport continue. From tomorrow, joint teams of police, regional health inspectorates and the Bulgarian food safety agency will inspect retail outlets to ensure the compliance with the requirement for keeping distance and wearing of protective masks.
