Residents of Bulgaria’s second largest city of Plovdiv will join the national protest against the high death rate caused by road traffic accidents. The protest will be held on 19 July, the birthday of a roadside assistance worker, Ivan Dimitrov, who died in April 2016 after he was hit by car while helping victims of another car accident on Hemus motorway.
The organizer of the protest is Dimitorv’s widow, Roumyana Chobanova, who demands stricter measures in order to reduce the rate of such incidents.
Residents of Plovdiv will stage the protest at Sankt Petersburg Boulevard. Plovdiv is at the top of the list of high road crash death rate. Protests will be held in Sofia, Varna, Bourgas, Rousse and Mezdra.
