Bulgaria’s Prime Minister Boyko Borissov on 20th of February met with the Speaker of the Parliament of North Macedonia, Talat Xhaferi, who is visiting Bulgaria on the occasion of the vote in Bulgaria’s Parliament of the Protocol on the accession of North Macedonia to NATO on 20th of February.
The two noted the excellent cooperation between Sofia and Skopje in recent years. Borissov stressed the importance of infrastructure, transport and digital connectivity projects and added that the countries in the region should work actively to boost gross domestic product.
Talat Xhaferi thanked the Bulgarian government for the Prime Minister's personal commitment to the efforts of Bulgaria for the Euro-Atlantic path of its Southwest neighbour. Earlier today, Bulgaria’s Parliament ratified the Republic of North Macedonia’s NATO accession protocol.
The vote was 140 in favour and none against, in the absence of the opposition Bulgarian Socialist Party, which is currently boycotting sittings of Parliament.
