President imposed a veto on the Black Sea Coast Development Act

On 24th of June, President Rumen Radev imposed a veto on the Black Sea Coast Development Act.

In his reasoning, the President says that he does not oppose the attempt for introduction of rules and standards proclaiming the fundamental right to a healthy and favourable environment, but the rules for "wild camping" are becoming increasingly restrictive.

According to Radev, there seems to be an imbalance between strict sanctions for the people and lack of strict control by the State.

The veto comes amid protests directed against the decision of the lawmakers that tents, campers and caravans can only be located on specifically designated places. Protesters see it as new restrictions for nature-loving vacationing. They pointed out that it is not the big problem on the Bulgarian Black Sea coast but the over-development.
