Parliament passed the Fuel Act at second reading

Bulgaria’s Parliament on January 22 passed the Fuel Act at second reading. The texts prohibit the filling of road vehicles with products of petroleum origin that have not been accounted for under the VAT Act and the regulation on cash registers. A fine of BGN 10,000 to BGN 100,000 is enviaged for the offenders. The sanction for companies is from 20,000 to 200,000 BGN.

The amendments to the law introduce a ban on filling of gas bottles and appliances outside tax warehouses. The changes also make it easier for farmers who use petrol and diesel for own needs.

The law comes into effect on Saturday unless it is vetoed. Small fuel traders gathered before parliament - this time to support the change.
