One of the largest tour operators in Bulgaria - Astral Holidays, announced that it is entering bancruptcy proceedings, the agency announced on its official website on October 7. The company is the Bulgarian partner of the collapsed British tourist operator Thomas Cook.

The company says it has to cease operations and start bankruptcy proceedings from October 7, 2019 after almost 24 years of presence on the market and despite the incredible efforts of management and employees.

This decision was made after a great deal of discussion, effort and attempt to secure financing for the company, the statement says. Over the years we have always strived to achieve the highest quality of our services and to provide maximum comfort to our customers, as well as unforgettable experiences, they added.

The company assures that it has taken all measures to protect its clients, explaining it maintans a valid insurance. The trips of all clients who have purchased holidays from Astral Holidays International AD, which are currently abroad, are fully paid, so there is no risk of problems with flights or refusal of accommodation in hotels or other tourist services, the statement says.

The company also announces that travels planned after October 7 will not take place.

Astral Holidays International will not have the opportunity to make future scheduled trips to some of its clients after October 7, 2019. Customers with future trips, paid 100%, of Astral Holidays International to partners will be notified personally by employees of Astral Holidays International AD. Customers who have purchased only the airline ticket service with scheduled or low cost airlines will also make their journeys, as all tickets have already been purchased and paid for by Astral Holidays International AD. To check the timetable and flight times, we recommend that customers check with the airline concerned when the date of travel on the airline tickets already issued is approaching. We emphasize that clients of Astral Holidays International AD who have made deposits or paid in full for their future organised trips but have not paid Astral Holidays to a partner or supplier will be compensated as provided for by the law. They are guaranteed by the Tour Operator's Liability insurance contracted between Astral Holidays International AD and Uniqa Insurance Company, with coverage - BGN 700,000. The contact details of the insurer and more useful information are specified in the relevant contracts for travel packages and the annexes to them, Astral Holidays wrote.
