MRF commented on EC’s latest CVM report on Bulgaria

Speaking in a briefing in Parliament on 14th of November, the Movement for Rights and Freedoms (MRF) floor leader Yordan Tsonev commented on the European Commission's report under CVM as well as on the protests in the country.

MRF said that they did not participate in the protests or in their organization. They support some of the demands, such as those of mothers of disabled children, for the resignation of Deputy Prime Minister Valeri Simeonov.

Yordan Tsonev also commented on the latest EC report on Bulgaria’s progress under the Cooperation and Verification Mechanism and said that this is the best one so far. However, according to him, not only the government but also the opposition also contributed to this.

Regarding the critical remarks in the report on the media environment, he said that if Parliament had not delayed passage of the Mandatory Deposit of Printed and Other Works Act moved by four MPs of the MRF: Delyan Peevski, Yordan Tsonev himself, Hamid Hamid and Velislava Krusteva, there would not have been critical remarks, least in respect to the media environment's transparency.
