The mayor of the Bulgarian seaside town of Sozopol, Panayot Reyzi was charged because in the period 2014-2017, in the capacity of an official and in complicity with another official of the municipality of Sozopol, he misappropriated 1,989,474 BGN (ownership of the Municipality of Sozopol), entrusted to him to govern them.
Sofia City Prosecutor's Office has accused Panayot Reyzi of a malfeasance in office.
To facilitate the misappropriation of funds, Panayot Reizi has also committed documentary offenses by deliberately making use of untrue private documents - contracts and invoices.
Panayot Reyzi is alleged to have paid sums from the budget of the Municipality of Sozopol under invoices for completed construction works. As a basis for the bank transfer, contracts were made for completed construction works, but the sums were paid to an individual's account, which had nothing to do with the contractor.
