Bulgaria re-opens indoor restaurants, bars and cafes

As of June 1, the indoor restaurants, confectioneries and bars are re-opening. Only the nightclubs, discos and piano bars, remain closed.

The re-opening takes place based on a on order issued by Bulgaria's Health Minister, Kiril Ananiev, allowing bars and restaurants to go back to business after the restrictions introduced in mid-March to stop the spread of the coronavirus were eased.

The hotel and restaurant industry has long been waiting for this moment and said that they are ready to provide a safe environment.

The service will be carried out under strict anti-epidemic measures, both for customers and for employees in the restaurants.

Employees will work with masks, shields and gloves, and the tables will be located at a distance of one and a half metre.

Restaurant owners said that in their opinion customers will be much more demanding because of the pandemic, However, they are worried that it will be difficult for the staff to work with masks and gloves, but everyone hopes that sooner or later this requirement will be dropped.

The Ministry of Tourism envisages tightening the control in the food establishments.
