Imports to Bulgaria from the EU increased by 12.2% for January-June 2017

In the period January - June 2017, Bulgaria's exports to the EU increased by 11.3% compared to the same period in 2016. The value of all exported goods from Bulgaria amounted to BGN 16 345.6 million. Bulgaria's main trading partners are Germany, Italy, Romania, Greece, France and Belgium, which account for 69% of the exports to EU Member States, Bulgaruia’s National statistics institute said on 12th of September.

In June 2017, exports to the EU increased by 13.1% compared to the same month of the previous year and amounted to BGN 3 048.5 million.

In terms of exports of Bulgaria to the EU, distributed according to the Standard International Trade Classification, for the period January - June 2017, compared to the same period of the previous year the highest increase was recorded in the sectors "Manufactured goods classified chiefly by material” (35.8% ) and "Mineral fuels, oils and similar products" (24.2%). The largest decline was observed in “Food and live animals” (5.4%) and “Non-alcoholic and alcoholic beverages and tobacco” (5.4%).

Bulgaria's imports from the EU in the period January - June 2017 increased by 12.2% compared to the same period in 2016 and the value of the imported goods amounted to BGN 18 067.5 million at CIF prices. The largest is the value of goods imported from Germany, Italy, Romania, Spain and Greece.

In June 2017, Bulgaria's imports from the EU Member States increased by 7.6% compared to the same month of the previous year and amounted to BGN 3 122.5 million.

In terms of imports from the EU distributed according to the Standard International Trade Classification, for the period January - June 2017 compared to the same period of 2016, the highest increase in percentage was reported in sections "Crude (raw) materials, inedible (except. fuels) "(58.5%) and" Mineral fuels, oils and similar products "(57.6%). Decrease was observed only in "Non-alcoholic and alcoholic beverages and tobacco" (3.4%).

The foreign trade balance (export FOB - import CIF) of Bulgaria to the EU for the period January - June 2017 was negative and amounted to BGN 1 721.9 million. At FOB / FOB prices (after elimination of transport and insurance costs on imports of goods) the balance is also negative and amounts to BGN 857.9 million.
