Hail destroyed oil-bearing rose plantations in Karlovo

Hail storm destroyed rose plantations and garden in the region of Karlovo on 16^th of May.

Commission of the Regional Directorate of Agriculture in Plovdiv began an assessment of the damages from the hail strom. Oil-bearing rose plantations, vegetable gardens and vineyards were mostly affected in the villages of Bogdan, Karavelovo and Pevtsite.

Between 70% and 100% are the damages on the agricultural production of a producer from the village of Bogdan.

The Regional Directorate of Agriculture explained that farmers will be compensated on the basis of the prepared assesments of the damages by the municipal office of agriculture.

The municipality of Karlovo has indicated that they have designated land for the construction of anti-hail rocket launching grounds, but there has not been one operational for the recent 5 years. The mayor of the village of Karavelovo said that he has the assurance of the Hail Suppression Agency that from the beginning of next month the anti-hail rocket launching ground in the village will work.
