GERB is the first to register for the European Parliament elections

The registration of parties and coalitions for the European Parliament elections with the Central Election Commission (CEC) started on Friday, 5^th of April.

As part of the tradition in the recent years, GERB was the first to register their documents.

According to the deputy chairman of the party, Tsvetan Tsvetanov, the signatures collected for only a day and a half are over 47 000. Tsvetanov is convinced that, despite the scandals in recent weeks, GERB will have the largest number of MEPs.

Since March 31, GERB youths have been waiting in the queue to be the first to submit their documents to the CEC on 5th of April at 9.00 a.m. Shortly before that, GERB Deputy Chair Tsvetan Tsvetanov and the UDF chair Rumen Hristov arrived to the CEC. "We hope with UDF support to show that Manfred Weber will be the future president of the European Commission," Tsvetanov said.

Tsvetan Tsvetanov, Deputy Chair of GERB: You know that the necessary signatures for registration are 2,500, we have collected 47,200 for a day and a half only, but the law requires 9,999 signatures. So, we have met the requirements of the law.

Rumen Hristov, UDF chair: It will not be an easy campaign, we are aware of all this, but I think it is very logical that this coalition is happening, I think the right-wing should be united.(The ruling party GERB and the right-wing Union of Democratic Forces (UDF) will run in coalition for the upcoming European elections).

Tsvetan Tsvetanov added that, after the UDF and the United Agrarians’ support, talks were held with two more organizations.
