GERB AND “UNITED PATRIOTS” REACHED AN AGREEMENT ABOUT THE GOVERNMENT PROGRAMME
Members of GERB and “United Patriots” presented on 13th of April in the parliament the government programme for the next 4 years, over which they held multiple discussions in the last few weeks. They reached an agreement for a 4 years full government mandate.
The negotiations for an overall strategic programme are over. The written programme is 21 pages in length, “symbolising the end of the programme period – 2021”, said Valery Simeonov, chairman of one of the parties in the patriotic union. He also said that according to the results of the latest parliamentary elections, there were no other real options to form a cabinet and both parties, despite the differences between them, felt obligated in the name of the country’s prosperity, to agree on a common government.
Boyko Borissov, the leader of GERB, thanked the negotiation teams that worked on the agreement. He said that both parties had to make some compromises in order to reach that agreement and if GERB did not do that, new elections should have been held, because “United Patriots” could not form a cabinet with the second biggest party in Bulgaria – the socialist party BSP.
