Bulgarias President Started Consultations on Mandate to Form a Government

The consultations with Bulgaria’s President Roumen Radev on the mandate to form a new government started on 24th of April.

In accordance with the Constitution, the President holds consultations with the parliamentary represented forces before handing the mandate for forming a cabinet to the nominated candidate for prime minister of the biggest party.

The first of a series of meetings was held with Volya political party. "We united around the opinion that quick, immediate elections would be detrimental to the Bulgarian state, people and business," the leader of Volya party, Vesselin Mareshki, said after the end of the meeting. He added that ministerial posts were not discussed.

"We expect to see GERB's vision of what the next government should be. A large part of our pre-election programme has entered into their coalition agreement. We will monitor whether it is implemented and if so, we are ready to support them. As a start, Volya will try to add its strongest ideas to the programme in relation to the demographic crisis," Mareshki said.
