Covid19 in Bulgaria: More recoveries than new cases, social distancing remains

Six new cases of coronavirus were registered in Bulgaria over the past 24 hours from 443 tests. On a weekly basis, the number of recovered is higher than the number of new cases, the national task force said on May 25.

Of the latest cases, 3 new were confirmed in Sofia, 1 in Blagoevgrad (a 17 year old child), 1 in Plovdiv and 1 in Pazardzhik.

One more medical professional tested positive for the virus: a doctor from a hospital in Sofia.

The total recoveries are 862, including 22 over the past 24 hours.

There is no new death.

Despite the optimistic results, this is still not a positive trend. The secretary of the task force, Assoc. Prof. Dimo Dimov called for the measures of physical distancing and personal hygiene to continue.

235 of the Covid-19 patients are in hospitals, 20 them are in intensive care.

The age group most affected from the coronavirus are the people between the age of 50 and 59 – 21% of the total cases; 19% of the cases are aged between 60- 69 and 17% are aged between 40-49.

The people up to the age of 60 infected with the virus are 66% and respectively 34% over the age of 60.

The death toll per 1 million people in Bulgaria is 18.5%.
