Coronavirus in Bulgaria: Total confirmed cases is 1911

Forty six new cases of coronavirus were confirmed in Bulgaria for the past 24 hours for the period from 08:00 on May 8 to 08:00 on May 9, the secretary of the national task force, associate professor Dimo Dimov said on May 9.

The total number of cases reported in the country now stands at 1911. Of them, 380 are in hospitals, of them 49 in intensive care.

The active districts with coronavirus infected patients are now 11. Targovishte reported its first case.

The number of tests conducted for the day were 1777. The tital number of tested persons so far is 56 105, which is 8015 per 1 million people.

Out of the 46 new cases, 16 were registered in Sofia, 11 in Yambol, 7 in Pleven, 3 in Vidin, 2 in Blagoevgrad. Kardhzlai, Montana, Razgrad and Targovishte reported 1 each.

A person from Kardzhali retested positive for the virus after recovery. Similar cases were registered in other countries in the world. According to WHO, this is not reinfection, but patients retest positive because of migration of the coronavirus in the lower respiratory tract.

The number of medical staff infected with coronavirus is increasing. The total now is 206. Five new cases were reported in th apst 24 hours: 4 doctors ans 1 nurse. Two of them afre from Pirogov emergency hospital in Sofia, one is from the Military Medical Accademy, one if from a hospital in Plovdiv and one in Vidin.

The recovered patients are 422, with 21 more in the past 24 hhours.

The deaths reached 88.
