Coronavirus in Bulgaria: 19 new cases confirmed, total is 2427
Ninenteen new cases of coronavirus were confirmed in Bulgaria over the past 24 hours. The results come from 886 samples that were tested, the national task force said on May 24.
The latest cases include 4 in Sofia, 3 in Blagoevgrad, 1 in Veliko Turnovo, 5 in Pazardzhik and 2 in Sliven.
The total number of coronavirus cases in the country so far is 2427. The increase is by 0.8% for the day.
There no new cases of infected medical professionals.
32 Covid-19 patients recovered over the past 24 hours.
Four people died: three men - a 76, 73 and a 31 year old and a 76 year old woman with heart failure.
The head of the national centre for infectious and parasitic
diseases, prof. Todor Kantardzhiev, said there is a slight trend of decrease in
the number of new cases, but this does not mean people should start getting together
in large groups and advised that everyone should continue to wear face masks and apply disinfection
measures.
The effective reproduction number for the past week is around 1. If it starts dropping this would mean the infection is fading away, he added.
