Concert marks the end of Bulgarian Presidency of the Council of the EU

The final concert to mark the end of the Bulgarian Presidency of the Council of the EU took place In Hall 1 of the National Palace of Culture on 27th of June. More than 400 musicians, under the baton of Emil Tabakov, performed Gustav Mahler’s Symphony Number 8, also known as the Symphony of aThousand.

Thus, Bulgaria hands over the rotating presidency of the Council of the EU to Austria, which is also the home of composer Gustav Mahler. There was another symbol in the work - so many musicians gather on one stage and play together, as do many EU countries.

Before the start of the concert, the ministers Lilyana Pavlova and Boil Banov addressed the guests. Pavlova stressed that it was worth all the efforts and the Minister of Culture identified the Bulgarian Presidency as "bright and strong".

The two Ministers also opened an exhibition featuring moments from one the most important events for Bulgaria during the Presidency - the EU-Western Balkans summit.
