Chief Prosecutor: President’s statement is unprecedented attack on prosecution

Bulgaria’s Chief Prosecutor, Ivan Geshev, described President Rumen Radev's statements as an unprecedented attack on the prosecution. He said that the time of double standards has come to an end and there are no untouchables for the state prosecution. According to him, the only thing that matters to the Prosecutor's office is who violates the law and what evidence there is.

The prosecution service is subjected to an unprecedented political-partisan pressure by President Rumen Radev and the political formations affiliated with him," Bulgaria’s Chief Prosecutor, Ivan Geshev said in a statement at the Palace of Justice on July 10

.
'We'll continue to work in the same manner. We won't be stopped by the billions of oligarchs invested in the media and in politicians. The time of double standards has come to an end," said Geshev.

Geshev stressed that the prosecution respects the institutions and will not allow political careers to be built through attacks against it.

Ivan Geshev, Chief Prosecutor: Yesterday, the "unifier of the nation" Mr. Radev said in essence that the Bulgarian prosecutor's office is a mafia ?! What we are telling him is that he is obviously talking about light, but he is allied with the darkness, with people like "Skull" and other Bulgarian oligarchs and corrupt politicians who robbed our people! And this is his personal choice.

Geshev is adamant that as long as he is chief prosecutor, only the law and the evidence in the investigations will be important and there will be no double standards.

Ivan Geshev, Chief Prosecutor: What are we dependent on ?! With the fact that an investigation is underway for the illegal construction of the entire Vitosha Park, in which Peevski, Bozhkov, the person known in the media as "Wolf" and others have properties !?

The Prosecutor General recalled that the prosecutor's office had launched an investigation into illegal construction along the entire coastline, including the buildings in Rosenets Park and the oil port.

Ivan Geshev, Chief Prosecutor: There are no untouchables for us, no matter who they are.

Geshev also stressed that only the President and Vice President enjoy absolute immunity, and presidency officials can be investigated for crimes committed when there is evidence to that effect.
