Checks in domestic pig farms in Devnya because of African Swine Fever

The second sample from the dead wild pig found the area of Devnya, North-East of Bulgaria, on 13th of February, confirms the presence of the African swine fever virus (ASF).

Checks on domestic pig farms have been undertaken in order to prevent the spreading of the disease. The isnpections wil checks the conditions and whether the animals are registered.

Police officers and mayors will disinfect incoming and outgoing vehicles in the affected area. The measures for the two large pig farms will be particularly strict.

The Bulgarian Food Safety Agency (BCSA) on 13th of February reported a case of African Wsine Fever in a wild boar on the territory of Devnya. This is the first case of the disease in country for 2019.
