Check into 25 containers with waste at Port of Varna West continues

The check into the suspicious 25 containers with waste at Port of Varna West continues on January 17.

They have been shipped from Italy to a Bulgarian company, which according to the Commercial Register was licensed for import of waste. The shipment was opened after an alert was sent on January 16, that the cargo was not claimed by its owner.

The containers departed from the port of Salerno and arrived at Varna West on October 9 last year. The consignor is Dentice Pantellone based in Avelino, the recipient - the Sofia company Blatsion. After they did not search for the containers, a pre-trial procceding was initiated and check on the the content, which was supposed to have had rubber and plastic that were recyclable, but according to BNT sources, there were toys, clothes, household appliances in them.

The containers were allowed to stay in the port for up to 90 days. After the owner did not respond to the warning sent by the customs, they then signaled to the Prosecutor's office.

According to the Comemrcial Register, the owners of the company are Macedonian citizens Blazhe Hristovski and Goran Angelov, Italians Ezio Boche and Vincenzo Trasari and the Bulgarian company Jupiter Security. According to neighbours, there was a scandal in one of the company's offices in Sofia today.

At the other address indicated, according to the neighbours, there are no such companies at all.

So far, there are no detained and questioned people.

Police explained that expert check will identify the exact content of the containers and whther it is hazardous or not.

After the end of the chekcs, a decision will be made on how to proceed with the waste. One of the possible options is to be returned to the sender in Italy.

At the beginning of January, a large-scale operation against the illegal storage and treatment of waste was carried out by the Ministry of Interior and the Prosecutor's Office in the city Pleven and the region.
