Bulgaria’s President will Participate in 72nd Session of UN General Assembly

Bulgaria’s President Roumen Radev is on a working visit New York. He will take part in the 72nd session of the UN General Assembly. The head of state leads the official Bulgarian delegation, which starts its participation in the session on 18th of September.

The 72nd session of the UN General Assembly began on 14th of September. The official opening with all the Heads of States of the member nations will be held on 19th of September. The main focus this year will be on protecting the planet's peace, human rights and democratic freedoms, as well as global issues such as the fight against terrorism and the migrantion crisis.

The official programme of the Bulgarian delegation led by President Radev, which includes Foreign Minister Ekaterina Zaharieva, starts early in the morning with a high level forum on UN reform organized by US President Donald Trump. Only Deputy Prime Minister Zaharieva will take part in it, and then she and President Radev will meet with representatives of Jewish organizations and will participate in the annual tribute to the heroes of the global campaign against extremism and intolerance.

President Radev's official address at the UN General Assembly will be on 20th of September and he and Minister Zaharieva will hold over 10 bilateral meetings with couterparts.
