Bulgaria’s President: PM Borissov uses services for his political purposes

Speaking to journalists on February 17, President Rumen Radev said that Prime Minister Boyko Borissov uses the services for his political purposes.

The President thinks the PM is trying to shift responsibility by tapping him. Although Boyko Borissov denied having anything to do with the SANS investigation and the released recordings of conversations of telephone tappings made by special surveillance devices, in which the voice of the head of state is heard.

Rumen Radev said that Borissov instructs the Prosecutor’s Office who to “crush” and even the police have been put to work on instilling respect among disagreeing Bulgarians.(Radev was referring to telephone tappings that Prosecutor’s Office made public on January 28).

In President’s words, although Prime Minister Borissov has long been in power, his methods of work reveal his life back in the early years of the transition period to democracy.

President Ruemn Radev: The scandals, the crises, the big corruption disclosures, the growing discontent reveal daily his governance's impotence and dependencies. But Mr Borissov's drama is that he is aware of the fact that this time a clean-up through a resignation is unlikely to do the trick, because what awaits him is a caretaker government.
