Bulgaria’s President met his Chinese counterpart in China

The Presidents of Bulgaria and China on July 3 adopted in Beijing a joint declaration on the promotion of bilateral relations at the level of strategic partnership. President Rumen Radev is on a state visit to China at the invitation of his counterpart, Chinese President Xi Jinping. According to Xi Jinping, the joint declaration will give a new impetus to the development of bilateral relations. Rumen Radev believes the document will be a good basis for building upon the bilateral relations.

President Radev and his wife were met with an impressive ceremony in the square in front of the Great Hall of the Nations.

The Strategic Partnership Statement approved by the two Presidents, outlines the partnership directions, including the implementation of the Chinese initiative "One Belt, One Road”, reviving the ancient Silk Road.

There is a common understanding that cooperation in the areas of trade, investment, infrastructure, agriculture, science should be deepened.

Xi Jinping pointed out that Bulgaria was the second country to recognize the People's Republic of China 70 years ago. He also remembered the country's gesture to invite Chinese children for holidays after a severe earthquake, as well as the help of Chine in the search for the Bulgarian climber Boyan Petrov in the Himalaya mountains.

The two also discussed China's partnership with the European Union and the countries of Central and Eastern Europe. China is the EU's second largest trading partner after the US.

President Radev also spoke with Li Zhanshu, chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress. He said that Bulgarian rose and milk were particularly valued by the Chinese.

Earlier today, a major Bulgarian-Chinese business forum was held, bringing together many people from the two countries. President Radev presented the advantages of investing in Bulgaria.
