Bulgaria’s Head of State, President Rumen Radev on November 22 received the UK Ambassador to Bulgaria Emma Hopkins. The meeting was also attended by Martin Harris, Director for Eastern Europe and Central Asia at the United Kingdom Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the press secretariat of the Head of State said.
Holding the forthcoming NATO Summit in London, defence and security co-operation, as well as topics on the bilateral relations agenda, were among the highlights of the talks.
The Head of State emphasised the need for Bulgaria to build up modern defence capabilities, to overcome the lagging behind in a number of areas, and to increase the effectiveness of decision-making within the Alliance.
Guaranteeing the rights of our compatriots in Britain after Brexit, as well as the British in Bulgaria, was also among the topics of the meeting.
