Bulgaria’s health minister issues order making face masks obligatory in public

Bulgaria’s Minister of Health, Kiril Anaiev, on April 11 issued an order which makes wearing protective face masks in open and closed public places obligatory.

The measure is introduced in relation to the epidemiological situation linked to the spread of Covid-19 in the country

All members of the public are required to wear protective face masks (disposable, for multiple use, or any means covering the nose and the mouth, including scarves) in the public transport, supermarkets, shops, parks, churches, monasteries, temples, halls, streets, bus stops etc.

Places and spaces that are freely accessible and/or intended for public use are also considered public. This also applies to places where public services are provided.

The Order is effective from 12 April, 2020 to 26 April, 2020 inclusive.
