Bulgarian schools will finish 2019-2020 academic year online
Bulgaria’s schools will remain closed and stay online through the end of the 2019-2020 school year.
The students from 7th and 12th grades will go to the schools only on the days of the final exams. This was decided by the Minister of Education, members of the Branch Board for Tripartite Cooperation in Education and representatives of parents’ organisations.
The dates for the exams will be specified in the coming days, depending on the development of the epidemiological situation in the country and the standpoints filed in the Education Ministry.
The discussion highlighted the readiness of the educational system for conducting exams in compliance with safety measures, including for students in independent and part-time training, as well as for the practical exams for professional competence. Participants in the meeting agreed that individual attendance consultations should be allowed and organized in the schools for the children who requested them, or the teachers deemed necessary.
During the meeting, an agreement was reached to identify the material included in the exams, based on school survey on the level of knowledge learned and the topics taught.
Support was expressed for the actions of the Government and the ministry of education in the current situation with regard to ensuring the safety and health of students and teachers and providing training in an electronic environment.
