Bulgarian Authorities Disrupted Migrant Trafficking Ring
Bulgaria’s prosecutor's office and the Ministry of Interior disrupted on 23rd of May a criminal group for migrant trafficking. The migrants were smuggled from Turkey through Bulgaria to Serbia and Romania. The trafickers received between 700 and 1,200 euros per person.

The
large-scale operation took
place in the cities of Haskovo,
Sofia, Vidin, Sevlievo and Dimitrovgrad. 20 people were arrested for 24 hours,
including Bulgarians, Afghans and Syrians. Six of them have been charged and request will be submitted to the
court for imposing a permanent arrest. Some of the detained were responsible for
securing the smuggling through
the Turkish-Bulgarian border and the transportation to Sofia. Others were in charge for the seamless crossing into
Serbia or Romania. The foreigners
are only witnesses in the case.The authoritiess
have no data for them being related to extremist groups.
