BNT TO HOST THE PRESTIGIOUS PRIX CIRCOM 2014 JUDGING

The Bulgarian National Television for the first time will be the host of one of the most prestigious competition for TV programmes produced and broadcast by public service regional stations in Europe – Prix CIRCOM 2014.

The event will take place from 8th to 11th April and will get together professionals from 14 European countries. 228 entries from 30 countries will participate in the competition.

“It is an honour for us to host such a prestigious forum. Our greatest value as a public service broadcaster is the viewer. Although the year was extremely difficult, we continue to invest in high quality products and programmes”, BNT Director-General, Mrs. Vyara Ankova, said.

The President of Prix CIRCOM 2014, Mr. David Lowen, arrived in Bulgaria for the event.

David Lowen supported her words by praising the high standards of the BNT productions. He said that the Bulgarian National Television had always produced high quality programmes and being the host of PRIX CIRCOM 2014 was completely logical. David Lowen added that it was very important that public service broadcasters work in the conditions of stable and safe political climate in order to continue to create good and likable programmes.

BNT is hosting the judging of the Prix CIRCOM at a time it has received great international recognition for the productions “The Forth Estate”, the crime series “Undercover” and the reality format, licenced by Endemol, “The Best Years of Our Life”.

PRIX CIRCOM honours the best regional productions, characterized by high quality and professionalism, associated with current European events, achievements and trends.

This year’s edition of the contest includes the following categories: documentaries, sports, magazine and news magazine, feature films, programmes for minorities in society, video journalism, the rising star, investigative journalism, special award for Citizenship Co-production, supported by the European Parliament.

All awards except the Grand Prix will be announced a week after the judging and the gala awards show will be in Cavtat near Dubrovnik, Croatia, on Thursday 8 May, to coincide with the CIRCOM Conference.

CIRCOM Regional is a Professional Association of Regional Public Service Television in Europe.

The acronym “CIRCOM” represents a declaration of intent, worded in French and abbreviated like this: “Cooperative Internationale de Recherche et d’Action en matière de Communication (International Cooperative for Research and Action on the Field of Communication).
