Antonio Tajani: Europe is not Just Central Bank, Values are Important

The President of the European Parliament Antonio Tajanitook part in a discussion at Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridski" dedicated to the problems of young people in the European Union.

The distance between European citizens and the European institutions should be shortened. This is the main objective that the President of the European Parliament, Antonio Tajani, has set himself. He participated in a discussion entitled "The Voice of Young People - What kind of Europe do we want?", It takes place at Sofia University and is broadcast live on BNT2.

According to Tajani, Europe has three main objectives that need to be met: to reduce illegal migration, combat terrorism and reduce youth unemployment.

"We need a lot of effort, we need to restore the industry in Europe, work to overcome climate change, work to support small and medium-sized businesses, support agriculture and trade, and digitization," Tajani explained.

In his words, Europe will be seriously lagging behind if it does not digitize and if it is not aware of the new digital technologies.

He described leaving of young people from the Old Continent as a disaster.

"Our goal is to keep young people in Europe, young people leaving Europe is a disaster for us, their leaving from Europe is because of our mistakes. We have to work for the development of universities as well as cooperation between universities, big companies and not so big companies," explained the President of the EP.

In his words, at the moment, the same way the business does not know what scientists are doing, scientists do not have a proper judgment for entrepreneurs.

"We need to change Europe, but we need to emphasize what the European Union has done so far: 70 years of peace; internal market; respect for human rights; protection of democracy; we are the only continent where there is no death sentence. We stand for human dignity," reminded Tajani.

He urged young people to build a value system and have dreams.

"Europe is not just the European Central Bank and Schengen, values are very important, we have to have dreams and we have to support them, especially the dreams of the young people, without values and dreams we will not be able to work during the time of our lives," he said.
