The procession began with the miraculous icon of Virgin Mary. The icon of the Mother of God was brought out of the monastery temple and brought to the place where Virgin Mary had made the first miracle. The Holy Liturgy for the feast of the Assumption of Virgin Mary, the temple celebration of the holy cloister, was held in the Troyan Monastery, Northern Bulgaria. The church service was headed by Metropolitan Nikolay of Plovdiv with other clerics. Bulgaria’s Patriarch Neophyte was also praying in the monastery. He was greeted in the temple by the abbot of the Holy abbey Bishop Sioni.
Patriarch Neophyte continues the tradition of his predecessor Patriarch Maxim every year to attend the celebrations marking the temple feast of the Troyan monastery - the Assumption of Virgin Mary.
On this day, the monastery is filled with worshippers from all over the country, who have come to pray in front of the miraculous icon of the Holy Virgin. They also bow in front of the tomb of the late Patriarch Maxim.
The Prime Minister of Bulgaria, Boyko Borissov, is expected to arrive in the holy cloister. He will check the repairing process of the Antimovo wing, for which the government allocated 500,000 BGN last year.
The traditional Crafts Fair begins on 15th of August in the village of Oreshak and will run until 19th of August. Because of it and the temple celebration, the main street in the village leading to the Troyan monastery is closed to traffic. There is a bypass route in the direction of Cherni Osam.
