50 new coronavirus cases confirmed in Bulgaria for the past 24 hours, total rises to 1437

The total coronavirus cases confirmed in Bulgaria is 1437. Fifty more people tested positive for the past 24 hours, the national task force said in the morning briefing on April 29.

The active cases are 1134.

Thirteen new cases were registered in Sofia, 11 in Plovdiv. A cluster of two families was registered in the village of Brestovitsa. They contracted the infection from of people who arrived from Germany.

Ten new cases were reported in Vidin, 8 in Pleven (6 of them being from “Mizia” clothes manufacturer), 3 in Sliven, 2 in Vratsa, 1 in Blagoevgrad, 1 in Haskovo, 1 in Yambol.

The new cases among children are 6.

Five more medical professionals tested positive for the virus: 2 doctors and a nurse from Pirogov hospital in Sofia; 1 nurse from Pleven and 1 mid-wife from Vidin. The total medical staff diagnosed with the virus is now 155.

243 people have recovered, which is 17% of all cases.

Three more patients died for the past 24 hours.

287 of the total are in hospitals, 39 in intensive care.

859 tests were carried out for the past 24 hours.

As at today, the total number of tested people is 45208, which is 6 458 tested per million, given that Bulgaria’s population is approximately 7 million people

There are 33 medical professionals infected with the virus in Vidin, which is 10% of all the staff of the hospital This may lead to a problem with the medical services. Two of the wards, the neurology and cardiology, have e serious problem due to the number of infected staff and patients are directed to another hospital in the town of Lom.

An old people’s home in the village of Gara Oreshets reported 8 cases diagnosed with coronavirus. Two of them were hospitalised. Three people from the staff also tested positive.

Students will not be going back to the classrooms for the time being, the head of the task force, General Mutafchiyski said.
