48 workers from a toy factory in Dospat diagnosed with Covid-19

Forty eight workers from the toy factory in the Bulgarian town of Dospat tested positive for coronavirus, the Regional Health Inspectorate in Smolyan said on June 8. A total of 173 people were tested.

For third day in a row, the factory remains closed after the health authorities registered the first 17 people with Covid-19.

In order to prevent further spread of the virus from the cluster, the local mayor asked the health inspectorate in the district city of Smolyan to urgently introduce anti-epidemic measures in the municipality.

The factory which is on the territory of our municipality is outside the town of Dospat and the hygienic measures are good. I think the virus came from the outbreak in Sarnitsa, the mayor said.

According to him, the women who come from Sarnitsa and who tested positive for the coronavirus, before passing through the thermometers in the factory in Dospat, were taking an analgin pill in order to pass through the thermometer check without showing high body temperature and be allowed to work.

The measures in the village of Sarnitsa have been strengthened to prevent gathering of many people together. Construction companies working on infrastructure repairs in the municipality have withdrawn their workers for two weeks.

Owners of hotels in Dospat are concerned that tourists from all over the country may start cancelling bookings.
